Know Our Staff : Margaret Ikiara

Margaret Ikiara is the founder and director of CIFORD Kenya, a community-based organization located in Meru County, Kenya. CIFORD Kenya aims to empower women and girls through education, skills training, and advocacy for their rights. The organization also works to promote sustainable development in the community by promoting environmental conservation and supporting small-scale agriculture.

Margaret Ikiara was inspired to start CIFORD Kenya after witnessing the challenges faced by women and girls in her community, particularly in terms of access to education and economic opportunities. She saw that many girls were dropping out of school due to poverty, early marriage, and other cultural practices, and recognized the need for an organization that could provide support and resources to help these girls stay in school and achieve their full potential.

Since its founding in 2000, CIFORD Kenya has made a significant impact in the community, reaching thousands of women and girls through its various programs and initiatives. The organization has helped to improve access to education, provide vocational training and entrepreneurship opportunities, and promote women’s rights and gender equality. Margaret Ikiara’s vision and leadership have been instrumental in the success of CIFORD Kenya, and she continues to work tirelessly to empower women and promote sustainable development in her community.
